So the last few months I’ve been working on a new video series, which I’ve titled Reading Poker Tells Video. I partnered with Chicago’s Windy City Poker Championships, run by Kirk Fallah, so I could use the footage from their cash games and tournaments to make instructional training videos about poker behavior and tells. The last few months I’ve been watching their footage, analyzing it, and taking notes. And a couple days ago I released the videos on the site www.ReadingPokerTells.video (offsite link).
I currently have 12 videos in the series and I’ll be adding more as I continue to study Windy City footage and look for stuff. I’ve spent a lot of time on the videos and am very proud of them. I’ve been wanting to work with video for a while, and it was great to find a partner that was interested in the idea and who also was continuing to produce footage for the foreseeable future. I was also excited that they produce footage of cash games and not just tournaments.
You can watch a trailer of the video series below. It even has super-exciting music that is out of all logical proportion to the rather boring content!
I created the videos to be completely standalone, so that you could watch them in any order. I did this so that people would be encouraged to buy them individually if they so chose. Because I know that some people may be quite knowledgeable about a certain kind of behavior and not knowledgeable about other behaviors. And honestly, if you know a good amount about poker tells already, a good amount of the footage in these videos will be common knowledge to you. So I wanted to give people the freedom to just buy the ones that looked interesting to them.
Also, these videos are not the ‘most important poker tells’; the creation of them was much more organic and stemmed from what I found as I went through the footage. Due to the way poker footage is most often shot and edited, some behaviors are much harder to find than others. For example, post-bet tells (i.e., behavior someone has after making a bet) are very important, but because poker footage cuts away from the person who just acted/bet and focused on the person whose turn it now is, it makes it difficult to study post-bet behavior. This is why this series so far does not feature much post-bet behavior at all, despite post-bet behavior being one of the most important times to look for reliable tells. I explain this in case people are under the impression that these tells represent ‘the most important tells.’
Options for purchase
I have 3 main options for buying the videos: Rent All, Buy All (streaming and download), and a Lifetime Membership (which gets you all current videos and all future videos). You can also purchase the videos individually if you want; there’s not that big a cost savings from purchasing them all, honestly, and I did that specifically so that people would feel comfortable just purchasing them separately.
I created the Lifetime Membership option because I plan on adding at least ten more videos to the series, hopefully in the next year but it may take a little longer than that. The Lifetime Membership is currently $100 but that price will raise of course when I add more videos.
